SIM card registration extended for 90 days — DOJ

MANILA, Philippines — The SIM card registration period has been extended for another 90 days.

This was announced by Justice Secretary Jesus Crispin Remulla during an inter-agency task force meeting on the oil spill in Mindoro.

He made the announcement following a sectoral meeting with President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr. on Tuesday in Malacañang.

“There’s a 90-day extension,” Remulla said, pertaining to the SIM card registration.

The deadline was initially set on April 26, but authorities have decided to extend it following the low registration turnout.

The DICT earlier announced that it would not extend the registration deadline beyond April 26, a decision that some senators have supported.

Remulla is among the officials present during the sectoral meeting presided over by President Marcos, where they discussed whether or not to extend the SIM card registration.

Department of Information and Communications Technology Secretary Ivan John Uy was also present during the meeting.
