2 nabbed for illegal guns, grenade in Bicol

Two persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and a grenade during separate search operations in Camarines Sur and Masbate provinces on Tuesday morning (April 4).

LEGAZPI CITY — Two persons were arrested for illegal possession of firearms, ammunition and a grenade during separate search operations in Camarines Sur and Masbate provinces on Tuesday morning (April 4).

Lieutenant Colonel Maria Luisa Calubaquib, Bicol police spokesperson, said in a report that police served a search warrant against the suspect identified as Wilfredo Balmes in Barangay (village) Nagkalit in Del Gallego town in Camarines Sur at around 9:55 a.m.

Police recovered a caliber .45 pistol with seven live ammunition, two steel magazines and 16 live ammunition for caliber .9mm.

In Balud town in Masbate, Leo Del Rosario, 43 and a farmer, was also arrested in a separate search in Barangay Palani at around 6:15 a.m.

Calubaquib said authorities seized a hand grenade and four live ammunition of caliber .45.

They were facing charges for violating Republic Act No. 10591 or the Comprehensive Law on Firearms and Ammunition.
