Marina on high alert during Holy Week
MANILA, Philippines–The Maritime Industry Authority (Marina) has announced that it will be on heightened alert during Holy Week to ensure safe and secure navigation in the country’s waters
In a statement on Sunday, Marina said the alert is in line with the Department of Transportation’s “Oplan Biyaheng Ayos: Semana Santa 2023” drive, which aims to ensure the safety of all passengers traveling during Holy Week
Marina Administrator Hernani Fabia has urged all regional offices and the Enforcement Service to intensify compliance monitoring of all passenger vessels plying in domestic waters.
The agency has also strengthened its coordination with other government agencies for mutual support towards addressing concerns.
Furthermore, the agency stated that Marina Circular No. 2018-07 will be in effect during Semana Santa 2023, allowing passengers to claim fare payments or refunds in cases of delayed, canceled, and uncompleted voyages.
Article continues after this advertisement“As the Marina remains committed to ensuring safe and secure navigation, the agency calls on all shipowners/operators, crews, and passengers to join hands in this endeavor and make Semana Santa 2023 safe and incident-free,” Marina said in a statement.
