Korean man, Filipina companion nabbed over marijuana in Angeles City

ANGELES CITY, Pampanga — Policemen arrested a 23-year-old Korean man and his female companion during a buy-bust operation on Friday in Margot village in this city.

Brigadier General Jose Hidalgo Jr., Police Regional Office 3 director, said on Sunday, March 26, identified the suspects as Jeong Eung Il and Maureen Ocampo, 26. Seized from the two were some P30,000 worth of “kush” (high-grade marijuana).

Hidalgo said around 10:30 p.m. on March 24, joint operatives from the city police’s drug enforcement agency, mobile force company and stations 5 and 6 conducted the operation against the Korean, who is among the “high-value individuals” on the police list of suspected drug peddlers.

Jeong was arrested after selling P10,000 worth of kush to an undercover lawman at the Deca Wake Park of Deca Homes Residences in Margot village.

Ocampo, who was with the Korean during the transaction, was also arrested.

The police seized from the duo about 20 grams of kush placed in two canisters and impounded the white Honda sedan used by the suspects.

Hidalgo said the two suspects face charges of possessing and selling illegal drugs in violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. INQ
