Woman dead in Valenzuela City fire

MANILA, Philippines—A 52-year-old woman was killed in a fire that struck her home in Valenzuela City early Tuesday, a report from Radyo Inquirer 990AM said.

Fire Officer 1 Julius Vasquez of the Valenzuela City Bureau of Fire Protection, said victim, identified as Marivic Meneses, was found dead inside her residence at No. 30 Second Street corner Magsaysay in Barangay (village) Marulas, Valenzuela City.

He said Meneses’ body sustained burns but he added that an autopsy would still be conducted to determine the real cause of her death.

The fire reached first alarm before it was declared under control at 7:33 a.m., the report said.

Vasquez said that investigators have yet to determine the cause of fire and where it started.
