3 suspects in Lanao del Sur gov’s ambush arrested, PNP says

Three suspects in Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong's ambush near the boundary of Lanao del Sur and Bukidnon were arrested on Friday afternoon, police said.

MANILA, Philippines — Three suspects in Lanao del Sur Governor Mamintal Adiong’s ambush near the boundary of Lanao del Sur and Bukidnon were arrested on Friday afternoon, police said.

Adiong and one of his aides were hurt, while four of his police escorts were killed during the incident on February 17.

According to the Philippine National Police (PNP), suspects Palawan Salem Macalbo, Nagac Dimatangkil Baratomo, and Aminoden Dimatingkal Mandoc were caught during a police operation in the province.

They were arrested for violating the Republic Act (RA) 9516 and RA 10591 or illegal possession of explosives, unlicensed firearms, and ammunition.

Adiong was discharged from the hospital on March 1 and continues to recover at home.

In an earlier report, provincial information officer Salma Jayne Tamano said that Adiong has yet to report to the office as he still undergoes therapy at home.
