LTO suspends driver for 90 days after crash with motorcycle challenge participants

MANILA, Philippines — A driver was slapped with a 90-day suspension by the Land Transportation Office on Thursday after a clash with two motorcycle riders participating in the BOSS Ironman Motorcycle Challenge in Ilocos Sur.

The incident that became viral on social media happened in San Esteban town last month and left the motorcycle riders with serious physical injuries.

According to the LTO, the unidentified driver did not face its Intelligence and Investigation Division despite being summoned to appear on March 9 to explain why he or she should not be charged for reckless driving under Republic Act (RA) No. 4136.

LTO chief Assistant Secretary Jose Arturo Tugade reiterated his reminder to all motorists to obey safety regulations and practice extra discipline while on the road to avoid endangering other people.

“Paulit-ulit nating binibigyang-diin sa lahat ng gumagamit ng kalsada, kailangan ng ibayong disiplina at pag-iingat at siguruhing nasusunod ang mga regulasyong pangkaligtasan upang hindi malagay sa alanganin ang inyong buhay at ng ibang tao,” said LTO Chief Tugade.
