Water interruptions to affect 4 cities in Metro Manila
Residents of the cities of Makati, Manila, Parañaque and Pasay should brace for up to 57 hours of water service interruptions starting March 5 until March 7, following a major pipe leak repair in one of Makati City’s busy thoroughfares. Maynilad Water Services on Tuesday said the repair of the 2,200 millimeter-diameter steel pipe along Osmeña Highway corner Zobel Roxas will take 52 hours, disrupting the flow of water supply for 580,000 customers in the four cities. The steel pipe is located 7 meters underground and will have to be exposed for proper damage assessment. Maynilad advised residents in the affected areas to store water that will last them up to three days. Service interruptions will begin on March 5 at 3 p.m. until March 6 at 11 a.m. at some areas in Manila; until March 7 at 9 p.m. and 11:59 p.m. in Parañaque City; and until March 7 at 2 a.m. in Pasay City. The full list of affected barangays are posted on Maynilad’s social media pages. Maynilad said that 30 water tankers and seven stationary water tanks will be available “round the clock” to provide water to the affected areas.
