BOY DROWNS IN TALISAY WELL
A1-YEAR-OLD boy drowned in a deep well in barangay Cansojong, Talisay City, southern Cebu.
His mother Rhea Saruda found him floating in waist-deep water before noon yesterday.
James Kyle was with her while she was washing clothes there earlier. After they went home, the woman went to pick mangoes across their house and left her youngest son with his two siblings.
The mother returned home, and found the toddler lifeless in the well.

Another man in Basak-San Nicolas was shot by his neighbor over a lost fighting cock.
Police said some residents believe a security guard shot Jun-jun Obiedo and Eddie Canque, both 18, on suspicion of stealing electrical wires from an establishment in Carreta.
The security guard fled after the shooting at 8:30 a.m.
Obiedo was wounded in the buttocks while Canque had a graze wound in the right leg. Both denied they were thieves and said they were just walking along Humabon Street when they were shot.
In barangay Basak-San Nicolas, Gerbi Caruana, 25, was shot by a neighbor who accused him of stealing his fighting cock past 9 p.m.
Caruana sustained gunshot wounds in his private parts and palm.
His neighbor Renato Tabuada confronted Caruana over a lost fighting cock, and chased him with a gun. Tabuada fled after the attack.
In barangay Mambaling, Johnny Osorno, 24, was stabbed repeatedly while buying cigarettes at a store at 7:30 p.m. The suspect, Arturo Sobrevilla, fled after the attack.

GUARD’S GUN FIRES, HITS MAN
A COLLECTOR was wounded when the 12-gauge shotgun of a security guard accidentally went off at 8:10 a.m. yesterday, Black Saturday.
Carlito Panonce, 30, who works at One-Citilink Terminal, was hit by splinters of the bullet that hit the ground.
Edison Hoyohoy of GDS Detective and Security Agency assigned at the terminal surrendered to the police.
Police said Hoyohoy was about to turn over the shotgun to a fellow guard when it went off.
In barangay Kamagayan, Jake Morados, 22, was stabbed and wounded while he slept on a table at 2:40 a.m. The assailant was not identifed. /CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
2 ARMED PERSONS NABBED
A 25-YEAR-OLD man and a teenager were arrested for carrying guns on board a car in barangay Labogon, Mandaue City.
Police said a .45 pistol with six live bullets and three empty shells was seized from Arglo Jake Garces, while the 17-year-old boy had a .357 revolver with live bullets. They both failed to present gun licenses.
Police rushed to sitio Caimito after receiving a report that a man fired a gun before leaving on board a car.
Police intercepted a Honda Civic sedan with plate number GFP-690 and frisked Garces, the teenager and another companion Junrey Bacalso, 29.

FIRE RAZES THREE HOUSES
THREE houses were razed and a five-story commercial building was damaged in a Holy Thursday fire in barangay Poblacion, Minglanilla town, southern Cebu.
The fire started at 5:30 p.m. at the house of brothers Manuel and Ernesto Reroma. The fire was contained around 6 p.m., said SFO2 Emmanuel Arcamo of the Cebu City Fire Department.
Arcamo said electrical misuse was the cause of fire, which also razed the houses of Baylito Tecson and SPO4 Henry Obiso of the Talisay City police station.
