USC tankers dominate Bantayan Beach Games

Tankers from the University of San Carlos (USC) dominated the open-water swim competition of the Bantayan Beach Games 2012 yesterday at the Sugar Beach Resort in Sta. Fe, Bantayan Island.

Keith Ocampo conquered the 5-kilometer open-water swim in 42 minutes and 20.2 seconds to clinch the overall male title while the distaff side was ruled by multi-titled swimmer Loren Dale Echavez after she completed the whole course in 45:23.

Finishing almost a minute behind Ocampo was Jess Arriola Jr., who managed to place second despite suffering from cramps during the race.

Preventing the USC tankers from hoarding the top 3 in the male open was Bohol’s Paul Jumamil, who came out of the water and crossed the finish line with a time of 46:10.

FEATURED STORIES

Trailing Echavez in the distaff side were fellow Warriors Rozelle Marie Diaz and Apriel Goden. Diaz settled for second place with a time of 55:11 while Goden salvaged third place with her time of 57:33.

In the age-group categories, the 19-under male title went to Cynthjune Goden with his time of 46.22 while the female title went to Velez College’s Gea Cane.

The 20-29 title was won by Joel Peconcillo while Loveleinell Casidsid bagged the 30-39 female title.

The 1.5k fun category was topped by Michael Sasedor and Rica Seville, also USC tankers.

Sasedor placed first in the male division with a time of 38:56 while Seville clocked the best time of 48:13 to emerge female champion.

The age-group categories saw Angelo Quieta clinching the 10-under title with a time of 1:26:56.31 while Christine Gimenez won the distaff side (1:25:56.06).

Richmond John Emmanuel Seville (1:01:57.72) pocketed the 11-12 male title while Jung Cases reigned supreme in the 30-39 category.

OTHER EVENTS

The event’s first-ever overall male and female duathlon title went to Welmar Saavedra and Casidsid.

Saavedra topped the male division after conquering the whole course in 1:05:38 while Casidsid clinched the female title after breasting the tape in 2:16:25.

Completing the top 3 in the male division were Jun Endrina at second place and Wendell Tac-al at third place.

Jezam Baldomar won the 20-29 title (1:19.07) while the 19-under title went to Andre Pacheco. The 30-39 title was won  by Carlo Dale Pacana.

Top finishers in the dua-kids were Junn Pacheco and Desiree Villadolid.

The cycling individual time trial was lorded by Jung Cases, who finished the 14k course in 21:16.29.
