176 traffic, public transpo workers undergo surprise drug test in Angeles City
MABALACAT CITY, Pampanga — At least 176 traffic enforcers and employees of the city public transportation office here underwent a surprise drug test, the city government disclosed on Wednesday.
In a statement, the city government said the test was conducted by the Angeles City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (ACADAC) at the city hall lobby a few days ago.
It said the activity was in line with Mayor Carmelo Lazatin Jr.’s goal of reducing the demand for illegal drugs and promoting a drug-free workplace, especially in government offices.
Those who were subjected to a surprise drug test included 144 traffic enforcers and office personnel of the traffic development office and 32 public transportation and regulatory office employees.
ACADAC head Richard Alan Saul said those who would test positive for illegal drug use would be sent immediately to the city’s drug rehabilitation center, as directed by Lazatin.
