LTO suspends 12 emission testing centers

The Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Friday announced the suspension of 12 private emission testing centers (PETCs) for 90 days after they were found issuing alleged fake emission test results on vehicles up for registration. The LTO said it also sent a show-cause order to the information technology providers of the 12 PETCs to explain why the agency should not revoke their accreditation for possibly conniving with the centers in performing the scheme. —Mariejo S.
