PNP Chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. himself formally administered the oath of office to 1,172 newly promoted police officers assigned at the National Headquarters at Camp Crame.
“Your promotion today defines success, and it is anchored with a huge opportunity and motivation to further impart your ideals, wisdom, and vision. So, as you move up to the career ladder, it is important to remember that with greater authority comes greater accountability,” Azurin said.
“And as future leaders of the PNP it is your duty to serve as a role model to your fellow officers. A leader with integrity, professionalism, and respect for the law,” he added.

(As your leader, I expect your cooperation in our internal cleansing program to ultimately end the undesirable excesses of our other colleagues in the service and other wrongdoings that are against the law and morality – especially those involved in illegal drugs.)
The regular promotion program of the PNP ensures a streamlined rank structure of the entire 227,000 strong police officers in the organization based on the staffing pattern approved by the National Police Commission.
The promotion also came after Interior Sec. Benhur Abalos Jr’s courtesy resignation appeal to PNP amid fears that some high-ranking police officers are involved in the illegal drug trade.
Earlier, current PNP chief Gen. Rodolfo Azurin Jr. and other command group members heeded the appeal of Interior Secretary Benjamin Abalos Jr. and submitted their courtesy resignations.
