Calasiao mayor passes away due to stroke

CALASIAO, Pangasinan — This town’s mayor, Mamilyn “Maya” Caramat, passed away in the early morning hours of Sunday (Jan. 8) due to a stroke at the age of 53.

Caramat, who was on her first term as mayor, died at 12:30 a.m., according to a post on Calasiao’s Facebook page.

Caramat, the town’s first lady mayor, had been long suffering from hypertension.

Her family will later announce details on the wake and interment, the post on the town’s official social media page also said.

Caramat is survived by her husband Police Brigadier General Romeo Caramat and their children, Calasiao town administrator Patrick and Kim.
