A netizen also posted a photo of their laptop showing a “502 Bad Gateway” displayed on their screen when they tried to register.
Others also used social media to alert telecommunications companies of their difficulties.
“Super hard to access the website @SMARTCares @LiveSmart #SimRegistration,” said one social media user, who also tagged the telecommunications firm.
The Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), however, said it had already anticipated the glitches.
“The first two weeks will be a test registration, which means that registrations are valid, but there could be some difficulties and minor errors as the PTEs (public telecommunication entities) fine-tune the implementation process,” said DICT undersecretary Anna Mae Lamentillo.
SIM users may register their numbers within the next 6 months beginning Tuesday, December 27.
Unregistered SIM cards after the said period will be deactivated.
