LGBTQ ‘human lanterns’ cap Ilagan City’s Christmas village
CITY OF ILAGAN, Isabela — Members of the LGBTQ shone with their costumes garbed with lanterns and other holiday decorations during the creative “human lantern” parade contest, a part of the city’s Christmas events at the City of Ilagan “Paskuhan” village on Saturday, December 10.
Dan “Samantha” Padilla, who won the competition with her corn-inspired costume, pocketed P12,000 cash and other tokens.
“Our theme is about the corn industry in the city aside from the church and the star of the holidays so we made sure to have a concept that will be interesting to the judges and the public,” Padilla said in an interview on Saturday night.
Other winners got P8,000 and P6,000 for second and third placers, respectively, while P3,000 each was given to non-winners as consolation prizes.
The participants were designers and members of the City of Ilagan Gay Association (CIGA).
