CIDG nabs Army corporal for gunrunning

A Philippine Army corporal was arrested by agents of the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for loose firearms and explosives in Cagayan de Oro City. In a police report on Monday, CIDG director Brig. Gen. Ronald Lee said the suspect, 33-year-old Cpl. Gilbert Roja, was arrested while in the act of selling high-powered weapons to a poseur buyer at 1:15 a.m. on Sunday along Masterson Avenue in Upper Carmen. Seized from Roja were one modified Troy Carbine M-4 rifle with attached scope; one Rock Island .45-caliber pistol; two fragmentation grenades; one M-16 magazine; three .45-caliber magazines; one hand fragmentation grenade safety case; and 411 rounds of assorted ammunition. The suspect along with the guns and explosives are now under the custody of the CIDG field unit in Cagayan de Oro.
