DILG awards Seals of Good Local Governance to 350 LGUs

A total of 350 local government units (LGU) across the country were awarded with Seals of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

MANILA, Philippines – A total of 350 local government units (LGU) across the country were awarded Seals of Good Local Governance (SGLG) from the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG).

In Metro Manila, five LGUs were awarded the SGLG, namely the cities of Caloocan, Mandaluyong, Muntinlupa, Navotas, and Quezon, according to the DILG’s list.

“We are humbled and honored by the DILG’s recognition. This would further inspire the city government to work even harder to further improve our governance and enhance the delivery of services to our constituents,” Quezon City Mayor Joy Belmonte said in a statement on Tuesday.

Muntinlupa City Mayor Rozzano “Ruffy” Biazon also expressed his gratitude for the award in a Facebook post.

“Ang SGLG ay iginagawad ng DILG sa mga LGU na nagpamalas ng kahusayan sa pamamahala. Ngayong taon, limang lungsod lamang sa [National Capital Region] ang nag-qualify sa award na ito. Talagang Nakakaproud!” Biazon said.

(The DILG gives the SGLG to LGUs that display good governance. Only five National Capital Region cities qualified for this award this year. It makes me very proud!)

Meanwhile, Central Luzon has the most seals, as it has two provinces, four cities, and 48 municipalities awarded SGLGs.

According to Republic Act 11292 or the “The Seal of Good Local Governance Act of 2019″, LGUs are awarded the seal if they uphold transparency in public funds, prepare for natural calamities, attend to help the needs of the vulnerable, implement sustainable health policies, and more.
