Police nabs phone snatcher who targeted ex-actress Hazel Espinosa

MANILA, Philippines — The suspect who targeted former actress Hazel Espinosa has been arrested by the police in his residence in Quezon City after being tracked through the phone he allegedly stole, authorities reported on Friday.

Suspect Abdul Mohammad Bocua, 30, was arrested by the police in his residence at Barangay Holy Spirit on Thursday night, according to the Quezon City Police District (QCPD).

Espinosa, who is Erica Davantes in real life, was fixing her belongings in the back of her car when the suspect suddenly appeared onboard a motorcycle and took her bag.

“Subsequently, the victim reported the incident to Brgy. Laging Handa and later reported to [Police Station 10].

“Davantes told the police that the suspect was tracked through the cellular phone of her daughter in Brgy. Holy Spirit, Quezon City, hence, a follow-up operation was immediately conducted that led to the arrest of the suspect in his residence,” the QCPD said in its report.

Recovered from Bocua were two cellular phones and an iPad Mini owned by the former actress.

He will be charged with robbery in relation to R.A. 11235 or An Act Preventing and Penalizing the Use of Motorcycles in the Commission of Crimes.
