City police officer-in-charge Colonel Jay Cumigad said in a statement Tuesday that the foreigner is a 29-year-old man.

Cumigad said that a concerned citizen reported around 11 p.m. Monday to the City Police Station 6 that a handcuffed man was at the Shell gasoline station at Henson St. in Agapito Del Rosario village.

Policemen proceeded to the area and found the handcuffed Chinese national who could not speak English.

Through an electronic translator, the Chinese man communicated with the police by giving his name and age and narrating how he was abducted.

“He stated that, while walking along Pasay City, [he was grabbed by] two male individuals onboard a white van and forcibly pushed inside the vehicle and transported to Angeles City, but managed to escape from his captors,” Cumigad said.

The police then called a translator to interview the victim.

“Upon the arrival of a translator, the (victim) stated an inconsistent version of his previous statement. He was also asked for his passport or any identification card, which he failed to produce,” Cumigad added.

The victim was brought to a hospital for a medical check-up. He is under the custody of Police Station 6 and will be turned over to the Bureau of Immigration. INQ
