MANILA, Philippines — The National Grid Corporation of the Philippines (NGCP) placed the Luzon grid under “yellow alert” status on Monday morning.

In an advisory, the NGCP said the Luzon grid was placed under yellow alert from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

The yellow alert status is raised when a power grid’s power reserve, or the difference between supply and demand, is below the required level, according to NGCP.

Meanwhile, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m. Monday, the Luzon Grid will then be placed under “red alert” status, which is put in place when it is likely that the demand will outstrip available generating capacity.
