Bid to ban Correa gets support from Mexican boxing body

ALA Boxing Promotions president Michael Aldeguer said everything is going well regarding their bid to ban Mexican Victor Hugo Correa from the boxing mainstream.

Aldeguer said he already talked to Mexican Boxing Commission officials to map out a plan against Correa.

The Mexican Boxing Commission also promised to investigate the incident and then plan for a permanent ban on Correa from promoting and matchmaking.

“We are happy for the strong support they have given to us and we are hoping that Correa will be brought to justice,” said Aldeguer.

Correa’s boo-boo turned the Pinoy Pride XII in Bohol to a huge disaster after he sent a different Genaro Garcia to fight ALA Gym stalwart Rey “Boom-boom” Bautista. The Genaro Garcia Correa sent had a very bad record of 10 wins and 11 losses. The original Garcia who was supposed to fight Bautista fought eight world champions and had a high knock-out percentage.

According to Aldeguer, WBC president Jose Sulaiman also wants to help ALA Promotions get back on its feet after losing big money in Tagbilaran, Bohol after they decided to make Pinoy Pride XII free to the public.

Meanwhile, Aldeguer said negotiations to bring in the real Genaro “Poblanito” Garcia is doing well. They are planning to bring him in this May to fight against Bautista in Manila.

ALA Promotions will have several Pinoy Pride boxing series in Manila going abroad.
