Zambales keeps low COVID-19 positivity rate

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales —The province continued to experience a declining COVID-19 positivity rate as it recorded no new infections on Monday, Sept. 5.
Citing weekly data from the Department of Health, Octa Research on Tuesday said the COVID-19 positivity rate in Zambales went down further to 16.3 percent on Sept. 3 from 17.7 percent on Aug. 27.
Octa said the positivity rate is the percentage of tests turning out positive.
The province’s active COVID-19 cases stood at 57 after recording three new recoveries on Monday.
Since 2020, Zambales has recorded 12,315 infections, of which 11,543 had been cleared of viral infections. The province’s death toll remained at 712, with no new deaths in the previous days.
Five provinces in Central Luzon have similarly recorded a decreasing COVID-19 positivity rate in the past week. These are Bataan, Bulacan, Nueva Ecija, Pampanga, and Tarlac.
Bataan registered the lowest virus positivity rate at 6.6 percent. INQ
