MMDA announces Sunday traffic rerouting in Manila

MANILA, Philippines—Amid the lenten season, several roads in Manila will be closed to traffic on Sunday for Domingo de Lazaro grand stations of the cross, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said Thursday.

In an advisory, MMDA said that at 11 a.m. Sunday, the southbound lane of Quezon Boulevard along Quiapo, Manila from streets Andalucia and Fugoso, to Plaza Miranda, and España, and streets P. Campa, and Lerma, will be closed to all types of vehicles.

By this, MMDA said all vehicles coming from Quezon City using the stretch of España should turn right to P. Campa, left Andalucia, right Fugoso, left T. Mapua to point of destination.

All jeepneys and, or light vehicles from España going to South Pier Zone, on the other hand, will have to turn left to Nicanor Reyes, right to Recto, straight to JAS, left to Reina Regente by Jones Bridge, right to Magallanes Drive to point of destination.

Jeepneeys traveling along Monumento-Gasak-Recto planning to take Andalucia through Recto, have to turn right to Fugoso, right again to Oroqueta to point of origin.

For vehicles coming from Legarda, they have to turn right to Recto, or left Mendiola to point of destination, MMDA said.
