MANILA, Philippines—The National Library, on instructions from Malacañang, opens its doors on Monday, a non-working holiday, to give the public a chance to see the original copies of Rizal’s “Noli Me Tangere” and “El Filibusterismo” on display at the national archives in Ermita, Manila.

The restoration of the priceless manuscripts, authored by national hero Jose Rizal, was made possible by a grant from the German government, a Palace press statement said Monday.

Also open to the public for viewing on Monday are “Rizal in Our Midst: An Homage to Greatness,” at the Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas on A. Mabini in Manila; and the Rizaliana stamp exhibit at the Post Office Building at the Liwasang Bonifacio, Manila.

The Palace urged the public “to take the opportunity to reflect on the life and teachings of our national hero today.”

The country on Sunday commemorated Rizal’s 150th birth anniversary.
