Caregiver training ongoing

THE Central Visayas Association for Volunteer Efforts, (CVAVE) in Cebu City is holding the second batch of training for 20 caregivers at the Department of Social Welfare and Development’s Area Vocational Rehabilitation Center in barangay Labangon, Cebu City.

The training is sponsored by the Cebu City government, which provided a P482,000 grant to CVAVE for a series of caregiver trainings in the 10 barangays in the city.

The training includes topics on the rights and privileges of older persons under the Expanded Benefits for Senior Citizens, common illnesses, health problems of the elderly and their prevention.

The training staff included CVAVE president Martiniana Mercado, secretary Lita Lumibaw, treasurer Trifona Palmares, assistant secretaries Ester Jimenez and Gaudiosa Visitacion and assistant treasurer Dulce Salazar.

The resource persons were CVAVE vice president Dr. Nicanor Maglasang, Dr. Napoleon Ronario, a US-trained gerontologist and Dr. Corazon Cañete.
