Manhunt on for Pasig cop in Manila shooting
MANILA, Philippines – Authorities are on the hunt for a Pasig cop who allegedly shot dead a man and wounded three others Sunday, Manila Police District director Chief Superintendent Robert Rongavilla confirmed Monday.
Senior Police Officer 1 Sonny Merino of the Eastern Police District remains at large after he allegedly shot dead Apolonio Torres and wounded three others in Sta. Cruz, Manila Sunday morning.
A police report showed that the victims were gambling when an irked Merino supposedly shot at them.
Torres, 38, died Sunday afternoon while the three other wounded victims remained under observation in a hospital.
Authorities said that homicide and multiple frustrated homicide charges as well as administrative sanctions were being readied against Merino.
