Kalinga farmer dies after being hit by falling tree

BAGUIO CITY—A farmer in Pinukpuk town, Kalinga province, died after he was struck by a falling tree at the height of Severe Tropical Storm “Florita” on Tuesday, police said Wednesday, August 24.

Francis Bitanga, 56, of Barangay Wagud was last seen leaving the hut of his friend on Tuesday morning amid a heavy downpour.

Bitanga’s body, pinned under a large tree, was found around 3 p.m. near a creek. INQ
