COPS CONDUCT FIRE DRILL

FOLLOWING the series of fires, members of the Cebu City Police Office (CCPO) conducted a fire drill in their headquarters in Gorordo Avenue last Tuesday.

The drill was conducted so the policemen would know how to assist firemen, said Supt. Carmelo Dayon, chief of the Cebu City Police Public Safety Company.

During the drill, policemen used “ringa,” an improvised sprayer made of aluminum tube, in putting out a fire while waiting for the arrival of firefighters.

BAKESHOP ROBBED

TWO bakeshop attendants complained to the police that they were robbed at knife-point in barangay Pajo, Lapu-Lapu City.

Maricel Francisco, 21, sales attendant, and Jonamie Terebroso, 23, cashier of Maiquis Bakeshop, told police that four men arrived and suddenly poked knives at them.

Man drowns off Compostela

A BEACH party ended in tragedy after a man drowned while swimming in the waters of barangay Gimbal Canamucan, Compostela town, northern Cebu.

Police identified the fatality as Reuben Tudtud, 21. Police said Tudtud was with friends in a beach party at the Green Lagoon beach resort last Saturday.

Past 1 p.m., the victim’s friends noticed that he was missing. Minutes later, Tudtud was found floating in the waters. The man was rushed to the Danao District Hospital, but attending doctors declared him dead. /CORRESPONDENT RHEA RUTH V. ROSELL
