Village exec gunned down in Cabanatuan
CABANATUAN CITY––A village councilman, who is the husband of a village chair, was gunned down by motorcycle-riding assailants in front of the barangay hall in Magsaysay Sur in this city on Monday, June 6, police said.
Investigators identified the victim as Ronald Castillo, 51, husband of village chair Jacqueline Castillo of Magsaysay Sur.
Witnesses said Castillo, who once served as a village chief, was talking to a local peacekeeper by the roadside, when the armed men arrived at 7:50 p.m. and shot him repeatedly using a short firearm.
The assailants were described only as wearing white shirts.
Police said the victim was taken to nearby Wesleyan Hospital, but was declared dead upon arrival by the attending physician.
