Cagayan logs 1,035 dengue cases in 5 months
TUGUEGARAO CITY––The number of dengue cases in Cagayan province had reached 1,035, with five deaths in the last five months, a local health official said Monday, June 6.
Dr. Carlos Cortina III, Cagayan provincial health officer, said the cases had been recorded since January and could be at an epidemic level.
Cortina said although the number of dengue cases was rising, there was still no outbreak.
Records also showed that 125 dengue cases and one death were recorded during the same period in 2021, while 141 were registered in 2020.
The highest number of cases recorded was in 2019 when the province logged 5,074 patients with 32 deaths. In 2018, it registered 2,087 cases and 23 deaths.
