Quiño: Hasten inventory
Compostela’s new town mayor is creating a five-member team to fasttract the inventory of equipments of the municipality after the municipal treasurer failed to account for this last week.
Mayor Joel Quiño said that he is heeding the recommendation of the Commission on Audit to create a team composed of departments heads, with the representative from the public auditor’s office as observer.
Quiño said that the inventory has to be done soonest so his projects could start.
He also said that he is actually planning to procure some more equipments and has included these in the capital outlay of the town budget he is now preparing.
In last week’s inaugural municipal council session, municipal treasurer Cleofe Gonzaga was unable to show an inventory or explain the status of these assets.
Gonzaga, who replaced the previous treasurer Lorenzo Almodiel after his suspension last year, said that P62.6 million was left in the town’s coffers. She assured the council that she would do her best to account for the equipment and the town’s budget.
