No shots fired in raid on Abu Sayyaf lair
ZAMBOANGA CITY—Soldiers arrested a suspected Abu Sayyaf member and seized high-powered firearms in a raid on a suspected Abu Sayyaf lair in Basilan Saturday.
Brig. Gen. Alexander Macario, Task Force Basilan head, said soldiers raided the lair of Nurhassan Jamiri following reports key Abu Sayyaf leaders would be gathering there.
But when the Scout Rangers and members of the Special Forces arrived in the area, only one suspect was there.
Army officials said no shot was fired during the raid. The lone suspect has been taken into custody for questioning.
