Curfew in Negros Occidental to be lifted on June 1

BACOLOD CITY –– Curfew in the 31 towns and cities of Negros Occidental will be lifted starting June 1.
Gov. Eugenio Jose Lacson said on Thursday, May 26, that the curfew would be lifted in response to the clamor of the business sector and after the mayors agreed to it.
The curfew for persons 18 years old and above is from midnight to 4 a.m., while those below 18 have to stay home from 10 p.m. to 4 a.m.
City Mayor Evelio Leonardia also lifted the curfew in the highly urbanized city starting May 24, citing the need to accelerate economic recovery.
Curfews in Negros Occidental and Bacolod City were imposed at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic.
Article continues after this advertisement“I would like to think that all our policies contributed to addressing the pandemic in terms of lowering the number of cases,” Lacson said.
The Negros Occidental provincial government is also returning to a five-day workweek on June 1 from a four-day workweek that began at the height of the pandemic.
