ITCZ brings scattered rains, thunderstorms in Davao region; Luzon on ‘monsoon break’
MANILA, Philippines — The Intertropical Convergence Zone (ITCZ) will bring cloudy skies with scattered rain showers and thunderstorms in the Davao Region, said the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) on Wednesday.
“Dulot po ng intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ, ine-expect po natin ‘yang mga kalat-kalat po na pag-ulan, pagkulog at pagkidlat sa bahagi po ‘yan ng Davao Region,” Pagasa weather specialist Grace Castañeda said in an early morning public forecast.
(Due to the intertropical convergence zone or ITCZ, we are expecting scattered rains, thunderstorms, and lightning in the Davao Region.)
Meanwhile, the bureau forecast generally fair weather to persist in Luzon, including Metro Manila, due to the monsoon break.
“Tayo po ngayon ay nasa tinatawag natin na monsoon break or ‘yung period po kung saan mas mababa ‘yung tsansa ng mga pag-ulan. At ayon po sa ating latest analysis, ito po ay magpapatuloy hanggang sa susunod na dalawang araw,” Castañeda added.
