Duterte-Carpio returns to Northern Samar town as promised
SAN ISIDRO, Northern Samar—Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte-Carpio on Saturday, May 14, made good her promise to return to this town.
More than 2,000 people welcomed Duterte-Carpio, who is leading in the vice presidential race, at the Tan Ting Bing Memorial Colleges Foundation, Inc.
Mel Bagol, executive secretary of the Sara All group, said Duterte-Carpio’s return to San Isidro speaks volumes of her character.
“She really makes good on her promise,” he said.
Last Feb. 28, Duterte-Carpio visited San Isidro as part of her “Mahalin ang Pilipinas Ride” and promised to return to the municipality.

Article continues after this advertisement“I thank you for supporting my vice presidential bid. From now on, consider me as one of your townmates,” she said.
San Isidro Mayor Ferdinand Avila said they were proud that the town was the first local government in the region visited by Duterte-Carpio.
He said the Robredo visit coincided with the celebration of their town fiesta on Sunday.
“We are proud and honored that the incoming vice president, Sara Duterte, chose to first visit our town in all of (Eastern Visayas),” Avila said.
Duterte-Carpio got 9,446 votes in San Isidro, while his closest rival Francis Pangilinan received 2,788.
Northern Samar Gov. Edwin Ongchuan supported the tandem of Vice President Leni Robredo and Pangilinan.
His uncle, former solon Jose Ong, however, backed the Marcos-Duterte tandem.
Amalia Mallari, 46, was happy to see Duterte-Carpio back in their place.
“I am really very happy that she made good on her promise to return to our town. I voted for her along with BBM,” said Mallari of Barangay Poblacion Norte.
With the impending appointment of Duterte-Carpio as secretary of the Department of Education, Avila said he would ask her to give the province more classrooms and buildings.
San Isidro is a fourth class municipality with an income of P195 million last year. Of the number, P7 million was locally generated.
