PH logs 152 new COVID-19 infections; active cases down to 4,106 – DOH

MANILA, Philippines — The Department of Health (DOH) on Saturday recorded 152 new COVID-19 infections according to its online COVID-19 tracker.

This is slightly lower than the number of cases recorded on Saturday at 175, and even lower than the average cases recorded the previous week at April 25 to May 1 at 200 cases per day in a total of 1,399 infections.

Current active infections also decreased from Saturday’s 4,305 to 4,106.

With this, the total number of confirmed infections now sit at 3,687,018 nationwide, with 3,622,473 recoveries and 60,439 deaths.

The total number of tested individuals on Saturday, May 7, meanwhile, total 16,927.

The next weekly report from the DOH for May 2 to 8 will be released tomorrow, the same day as the national and local elections.

Independent think tank OCTA Research earlier warned that Metro Manila could see around 500 to 1,000 new COVID-19 cases per day should the coronavirus transmission increase after Election Day, May 9.
