Deaf people learn about running; Run to Lead slated tomorrow
THE Gualandi Volunteer Service Programme Inc. (GVSP) held a talk on the benefits of running last March 4 with ABS-CBN news anchor Haide Acuña as the speaker.
Acuña, a lawyer and running enthusiast, shared to the deaf community tips on how to start running and the proper running form. It was the first time for the deaf to learn about running and the values attached to it.
The participants were inspired by Acuña’s experiences that made them more curious and enthusiastic about getting into the sport of running.
The lecture was in preparation for the Jaycees International (JCI)-GVSP Run to Lead, Run for a Cause Fun Run tomorrow, March 11, at Plaza Independecia in downtown Cebu City.
Coach Rio dela Cruz of Runrio Inc. will grace the event.
The fun run is for the benefit of the Read to Lead and the GVSP Deaf Child Sexual Abuse Prevention program that aims to mobilize volunteers to conduct trainings in different deaf schools around Central Visayas as well as to empower organizations in fighting against sexual abuse of deaf children and women.
