Pangasinan lifts COVID-19 curfew

DAGUPAN CITY––The provincial government of Pangasinan has lifted the province-wide curfew imposed to help stop the spread of COVID-19 in the past two years.

Depending on the risk classification level of the province, the curfew hours had varying times and durations.

On Feb. 28, the curfew hours were set from 12 midnight to 4 a.m. the following day, shorter than the 9 p.m. to 4 a.m. from January to February.

In an executive order on Wednesday, April 20, Gov. Amado Espino III said there was a decline in the number of confirmed cases in the previous months.

As of Tuesday, there were only eight active cases and no new cases of COVID-19 in the province.

“The provincial government of Pangasinan has been working toward easing restrictions on the movement of its constituents, with due consideration to providing balance for economic and health concerns against the threat of COVID-19,” Espino said in the order.

Dagupan City earlier lifted the curfew hours through an executive order issued on Feb. 10.

Mayor Brian Lim said the curfew imposed on the city was part of the health measures to address the pandemic and was lifted “without prejudice to its reimposition should the actual public health situation in a given period so require.”
