Army, NPA clash in Quezon
LUCENA CITY––Government forces and suspected New People’s Army (NPA) rebels clashed on Sunday, April 17, in Real town in Quezon province.
Quezon police reported that patrolling soldiers led by one 2nd Lt. Protacio from the Army’s 1st Infantry Battalion at 3:10 p.m. chanced upon at least 15 alleged communist guerrillas in Barangay Lubayat.

The battle lasted for 10 minutes, after which the rebels withdrew in different directions.
No casualty was reported on the government side, but there were undetermined on the NPA side, the report said.
Troops have been deployed to pursue the rebels.
