Party-list nominee arrested in Nueva Vizcaya
SANTIAGO CITY – The fourth nominee of Anakpawis party-list was arrested while inside a fast food restaurant in Bayombong, Nueva Vizcaya Friday night for alleged illegal possession of firearms and explosives seized in 2020, Karapatan said in a statement on Saturday.
Karapatan said that Isabelo Adviento, also known as “Tang Buting,” taken to the Bayombong police station for temporary custody before he was turned over to the police in Baggao, Cagayan.
The Cagayan Valley regional police office hass yet to issue an official statement on Adviento’s arrest.
Supporters of Adviento, who is Danggayan-Cagayan Valley president and Anakpawis-Cagayan Valley regional coordinator, said they believe that the guns, grenades, and explosives seized from Adviento’s house in Barangay Carupian in Baggao on December 2, 2020 were “planted” and that Adviento was not home when the alleged police operation happened.
