MANILA, Philippines — Amid another round of red tagging, this time targeting her campaign violunteers, Vice President Leni Robredo remains firm that she will not forge any alliance with groups that will use violence.

Robredo issued her statement on Thursday after her campaign volunteers were red tagged, saying that red tagging only meant to stop the momentum of her People’s Campaign.

The Vice President is still a far second according to latest voter preference surveys, but her camp believes recent survey results are now reflecting the massive groundswell of support for her candidacy. A Pulse Asia survey on Wednesday showed a 9 percentage point increase in voter preference for Robredo.

Robredo further said that she is standing up for volunteers who are being red-tagged only because they are seeking a better future.

This is not the first time that critics have claimed that Robredo and her supporters are working with communists. After the rally at General Trias, Cavite that was attended by some 47,000 supporters, a local politician claimed that members of the Communist Party of the Philippines and the National Democratic Front were present at the event.
