Gambler suspects cheating, robs shop

NAGA CITY—A losing streak incurred after playing in an online gaming shop here all night prompted a 51-year-old gambler to rob the gaming shop on Tuesday, according to police.

Senior Supt. Antonio Gardiola, city police chief, said police arrested Domingo Abelinde at a checkpoint in a village here an hour after Abelinde tried to escape with P30,000 in cash that he took from the cashier of the online gaming outlet here.

Police seized a pistol and suspected shabu from Abelinde, said Gardiola.

Another police source said Abelinde felt cheated by the computer at the online gaming shop and decided to get his money back by forcing the outlet’s cashier to hand over the cash at gunpoint.

Abelinde had help from two companions who overpowered the outlet’s lone guard and took his gun.

The outlet operated 20 hours daily from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Police chief Gardiola said Abelinde’s two companions were still at large.
