Burglars take cash, valuables from empty house

Robbers took more than P150,000 in cash, electronic gadgets and jewelry from a house on San Marcelino Street in Ermita, Manila.

The occupants of the house were out when the burglary occurred. Reports from the Manila Police District (MPD) theft and robbery section showed that the burglary took place between Sunday midnight and 3:30 a.m. Monday.

Trader Eleazar Piñon Sr., 51, his children Shann and Eleazar Jr., and the other occupant of the house, Aldreen Añain, said they lost P152,450 worth of valuables.

Case investigator Police Officer 3 Roderick Tan said among the missing valuables were P1,500 in cash; two wristwatches worth P53,000; two laptop computers worth P40,000 and accessories priced at P1,200; a camera worth P30,000; a cell phone valued at P16,000; an iPod Touch worth P5,000; a portable gaming device worth P4,000; and two leather wallets worth P1,750.—Jeannette I.
