COVID-free towns in Zambales rise to three

SAN ANTONIO, Zambales — The number of towns that had already posted zero active COVID-19 cases in this province rose to three, local health data showed on Wednesday.

Subic became the latest locality to obtain a COVID-free status after three of its active cases had recovered from the viral disease, according to the municipal health office.

The towns of San Felipe and Cabagan had earlier posted zero active cases and had not recorded any additional infections recently.

According to the provincial health office, all other 10 towns in the province have single-digit active COVID-19 cases.

Since the pandemic struck in 2020, the province has already recorded 11, 572 confirmed COVID-19 cases, with at least 11, 274 recoveries and 651 deaths related to the disease.

Zambales, however, remains under COVID-19 Alert Level 2 despite the dwindling number of infections.
