Pagasa: Potential LPA may form this weekend; fair Friday weather with possible rain showers

MANILA, Philippines — A low pressure area (LPA) may develop east of the Philippines this weekend, the Philippine Atmospheric, Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration (Pagasa) said Friday.

“Base sa tropical cyclone threat potential forecast ng Pagasa, gayundin sa pinapakita ng ibang models, possible po na may mabuong isang LPA this weekend somewhere dito sa may Philippine boundary,” Pagasa weather specialist Benison Estareja said.

Estareja said the LPA has a low chance to become a tropical cyclone but it will cross the Philippine Sea and near the Visayas and Mindanao.

On Thursday, Pagasa said it is monitoring cloud clusters over the eastern part of the country.

Meanwhile, the easterlies, or warm winds blowing from the Pacific Ocean, are still affecting the weather in Southern Luzon, Visayas, and Mindanao, according to the weather bureau.

Pagasa said the entire country will have partly cloudy to cloudy skies with isolated rain showers or thunderstorms either due to the effects of easterlies or localized thunderstorms.

Baguio City: 15 to 26 degrees Celsius
Laoag City:  22 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tuguegarao: 23 to 31 degrees Celsius
Legazpi City: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
Puerto Princesa City: 25 to 32 degrees Celsius
Tagaytay: 22 to 30 degrees Celsius
Kalayaan Islands: 26 to 33 degrees Celsius
Iloilo City: 26 to 31 degrees Celsius
Cebu: 24 to 31 degrees Celsius
Tacloban City: 25 to 31 degrees Celsius
Cagayan De Oro City: 24 to 33 degrees Celsius
Zamboanga City: 24 to 36 degrees Celsius
