Batanes town logs 2 more COVID-19 deaths

ITBAYAT, Batanes—A 1-year-old baby girl and a 71-year-old woman infected with COVID-19 in this northernmost island-town have died, according to the provincial government.

The infant suffered from hydrocephalus and was in a coma before testing positive for COVID-19. She died Monday night.

Dr. Allan Sande, provincial health officer, said the elderly from Barangay Raele died Sunday at the Batanes General Hospital. She had a thyroid mass, hypertension, and diabetes.

The COVID-19 death toll in Batanes stood at 12, said Sande.

As of Monday, the province had 55 active cases of COVID-19, local data showed.
