DAVAO CITY, Davao del Sur, Philippines — Malacañang has declared Tuesday, March 1, a special non-working holiday here to mark the city’s 85th founding year — or the Araw ng Dabaw.

Executive Secretary Salvador C. Medialdea signed Proclamation No. 1313 on Monday, Feb. 28, with authority from President Rodrigo Duterte.

“It is but fitting and proper that the people of the city of Davao be given full opportunity to celebrate and participate in the occasion with appropriate ceremonies, subject to the public health measures,” Medialdea said.

Dabawenyos can celebrate the 85th Araw ng Dabaw in the comfort of their homes, with the city government lining up various activities online on Tuesday, March 1.

The celebration will kick off with the Misa Pasasalamat (Thanksgiving mass) at 8:30 a.m., followed by the formal virtual opening ceremony at 10 a.m., and Tilaw Dabaw at (The Tastes of Davao) 11 a.m.

The afternoon program will resume at 4 p.m. with the “Pasidungog: Garbo sa Davao.”
