Bacolod nun, who takes care of poor, seeks financial help for urgent kidney transplant
BACOLOD CITY––A 32-year-old nun needs financial help as she needs to undergo an urgent kidney transplant.
Sr. Psyche Esclamada Examen, a member of the Servants of Mary congregation who takes care of the poor and the sick in Barangay Handumanan in this city, was diagnosed with chronic kidney disease four years ago.
“My two kidneys are smaller than the normal size and are unable to function properly as time passes,” she said.
She is taking oral medications to slow down the deterioration of her kidneys and undergoes regular laboratory tests and consultations with her doctor.
“Only 17 percent of my kidneys were working during my latest visit to my nephrologist who advised me to undergo dialysis or have a kidney transplant,” Examen said.
She wants to have a kidney transplant, but it will be too expensive for the Servants of Mary to shoulder the expenses.
