Malaysian national, Filipino cohort arrested for fake release orders for 3 detained Chinese kidnappers
MANILA, Philippines — The Philippine National Police (PNP) on Thursday said it arrested a Malaysian national along with a Filipino cohort after attempting to free three Chinese nationals from jail by faking a release order and presenting themselves as court staff.
PNP chief Gen. Dionardo Carlos identified the suspects as Owi Jee Hao, 32, a Malaysian national, and a Human Resources (HR) Manager of a Chinese Company based in the Philippines; and Lorenzo Vicedo, 26, and an HR personnel of the same company.
According to Carlos, suspects appeared at the Custodial Facility Unit of the Parañaque City Police Station, disguised themselves as process servers of the Regional Trial Court in Parañaque City, and presented a release order for detained Chinese nationals Han Xun, Cen Shalu and Shen Fa, who were facing charges for kidnapping.
